Mom Of Kid Wearing Headdress, Face Paint At Chiefs Game Fires Back At Critics

Holden Armenta kid face paint headdress Chiefs game

CBS

A young man named Holden Armenta caused quite a stir on the internet when CBS showed him wearing a headdress and face paint at the Chiefs game on Sunday.

Now his mom Shannon Armenta is firing back at those who criticized her son.

Numerous people on social media as well as a handful of media outlets lost their minds when CBS show Holden in his getup.

At first, people thought Holden had his face fully painted black. It turned out that half of his face was painted red. So he just painted his face in the Chiefs’ colors. No big deal.

The headdress, on the other hand, was still problematic for many.

Three years ago, the Kansas City Chiefs even banned fans from wearing headdresses at Arrowhead Stadium. This game, however, was being held in Las Vegas so the rule, much like many rules in Sin City, didn’t apply.

It turns out that Holden Armenta is part Native American though.

In fact, his grandfather, Raul Armenta, is a Business Committee Member of the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians.

“This has nothing to do with the NFL,” Shannon Armenta wrote on social media in response to the furor over her son. “Also, CBS showed him multiple times, and this is the photo people chose to blast to create division. He is Native American – just stop already.”

Shannon also shared several photos and videos from the game showing how little people were offended.

“Everyone asked to take a photo with him,” she wrote on Facebook. “He’s Native American – people are ridiculous.”

So, there you go, folks. See? It’s all good.

All you fired up non-Native Americans are now free to go back to doing the not at all racist tomahawk chop (like Holden there – an actual Native American) at Chiefs, Braves, and Seminoles games anytime your team gets on a roll.
