The mom of Kyle Filipowski’s fiancee Caitlin Hutchison has responded to accusations that her daughter groomed the former Duke star and Utah Jazz draft pick to secure a bag.
The 20-year-old Filipowski was expected by many to be taken in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft. After all, he was invited to attend the event in person. However, when the first night of selections came to an end, he still hadn’t heard his name called.
Kyle Filipowski’s mom and brother took to X (Twitter) on draft night and put the blame for his fall squarely at the feet of his 27-year-old girlfriend, Caitlin Hutchison.
“I’m Kyle’s oldest brother,” Daniel Filipowski wrote. “You all don’t a have a clue the extent of the story that has to do with his girlfriend. There’s a story that has been pushed under the table for nearly two years now.”
Daniel would also claim, “My brother is a victim and was unfortunately a ‘perfect’ pawn and target for this girl’s lifelong scheme based on his human characteristics and growing potential as a high-level prospect which started taking place in 2019, exactly at the time when she began her pursuit of him.”
Kyle’s mom Becky added in her own post, “You are opening a two-year issue… and she is 28 with an endgame three years ago to have a diamond ring on her hand when Kyle left Duke. HE WAS STILL IN HS!”
Daniel, who would later also blame Duke University for enabling Hutchison, also claimed that Hutchison forced his brother to cut ties with his family and that he was no way of contacting him.

Amanda Hutchison, Caitlin’s mom, has now responded to the accusations against her daughter.
“There will be things forthcoming,’ Amanda Hutchison told DailyMail.com.
“What we’ve always said to the kids is, for everything that’s good, if you have faith at all there will be adversaries, there’s always a negative for every positive. So it’s how we weather those storms.”
Making this story somehow even stranger is the fact that DailyMail.com reports that the parents of Kyle and Caitlin “were at one point so close that their kids regarded each other as ‘family.'”
Hutchison even went with Kyle as his date to his high school prom when she was 24 and he was 17.
As for what “things” will be “forthcoming,” as Caitlin Hutchison’s mom claims, she did not share any clues.
