Myles Garrett Has Surprising Choice For Best Player In The NFL Other Than Himself

Every year, NFL players are polled to find out who they think is the best player in the NFL for the NFL 100. One of the leading candidates to be the best player in the league is Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett.

Myles Garrett, the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year,  thinks he’s the best player in the sport. But, not counting himself, he made a surprising choice, selecting San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey.

Here’s what he had to say.

Number one for me? Take myself out of the equation. I’d say C-Mac. He breaks through tackles. He runs hard every single time. Couldn’t really stop the guy. I mean running the ball, receiving the ball, the guy can throw as well. He’s dedicated himself to each facet of the game… He’s like a renaissance man.”

That’s an interesting choice, but I see where he’s coming from. Part of the reason why I’m sure many of you are shocked is that running backs have been significantly devalued in the NFL. But, if you’re just talking about how good a player is at his position irrespective of value, it’s hard to beat out Christian McCaffrey.

Christian McCaffrey was no doubt a star in Carolina, but the trade to San Francisco rejuvenated his career and once again turned him into arguably the league’s best offensive weapon.

In his age 27 season last year, he had 1459 yards rushing and another 564 yards receiving to go along with 21 total touchdowns in 16 games. He ran the more efficiently. than he ever had in his career, at 5.4 yards per carry, and his strong play earned him Offensive Player of the Year, as well as a third-place finish in the MVP voting.

While the NFL Network list isn’t officially out yet, I’d expect Patrick Mahomes to be number one, with Myles Garrett and Christian McCaffrey not far behind.
