Myles Garrett Ripped For Saying Deshaun Watson Has Been A ‘Model Citizen For Most’ Of His Career

Cleveland Browns players have had tons to say about their fans’ reaction to Deshaun Watson’s apparent Achilles injury and not a single one of them has struck the right tone.

Instead of empathizing with the fans of a notoriously moribund franchise that gave a delusional fully guaranteed contract to an alleged sexual predator, virtually all of the Browns players have gone to bat for Deshaun Watson, including defensive captain Myles Garrett, who went as far as saying he’s “ashamed” of Browns fans.

“We should be ashamed of ourselves as Browns and as fans to boo anyone and their downfall,” Garrett said after the loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. “No one deserves that.”

Garrett also put forth a comically selective assessment of Watson, saying that the controversial signal-caller has been a model citizen through “most of the pros.”

“Man does pretty much everything right. He’s been a model citizen through college and also the pros,” Garrett said. “We can’t look down on the guy because of any mistakes on the field, or anything off the field. We don’t have any moral high ground to look down on the guy.”

Needless to say, the word “most” is doing quite a bit of heavy lifting there, as Watson has been accused of sexual misconduct/assault by over 25 women.

“Abraham Lincoln enjoyed ‘most of’ the play too,” said a viral reply to Garrett’s comments.

“‘Model citizen, ‘Most of the pros’:  I think Myles Garrett is missing big chunks of the plot here,” another football fan summarized.

“Totally agree with standing up for your teammate. But calling him a ‘model citizen’ is wild,” tweeted another.

With Watson out for the remainder of the season, the 1-6 Browns will likely turn to former #1 overall pick Jameis Winston, who also delivered an impassioned defense of Watson after the Browns’ Week 7 loss to the Bengals.
