Alleged 2025 NASCAR Cup Series Schedule Leaks And Features Return Of Iconic Track

While the NASCAR Cup Series sorts through the drama that is Kyle Larson’s undetermined playoff status, it may well have some good news coming around the bend.

An alleged leak of the 2025 Cup Series schedule hit the internet earlier this week, and it features the return of one of the sport’s most iconic tracks, as well as some other head-turning new stops.

The Twitter account @NASCARLeak posted a picture of the purported schedule on Wednesday and turned heads for several reasons.

The most eye-catching part was the inclusion of a race at Rockingham Speedway on July 27. Rockingham is a 1-mile tri-oval in North Carolina that began hosting Cup Series races all the way back in 1966. It continued to host races all the way up until 2004.

The track was then sold to Speedway Motorsports Incorporated before falling into disrepair.

But millions of dollars of state funding mean that the legendary speedway could well return in 2025.

“I think this board would agree that our number one goal here is to get NASCAR back in Rockingham,” local government official Rick Watkins recently said of the track.

The alleged schedule also features stops in both Mexico City and Montreal. Both cities currently host Formula 1 races. But the NASCAR Cup Series has never held a points-paying race outside the continental United States.

For years we said we want to go outside the U.S. and race, and you’ve seen us move from the messaging of it’s not a matter of if, but a matter of when,” NASCAR vice president and chief international officer Chad Seigler told Motorsport.com. in January. “I would tell you that we’re leaning even closer now to, ‘Yes, we are going.’ I feel confident we’re going to be there sooner than later.”
