Driver Daniel Dye has issued a statement and resigned after NASCAR and his race team, Kaulig Racing, suspended him for making homophobic remarks.
Dye, 22, received an indefinite suspension on March 17 after violating NASCAR’s Code of Conduct when he made homophobic comments about IndyCar driver David Malukas during a livestream.
NASCAR reinstated him and granted him immediate eligibility to compete in NASCAR-sanctioned races on Tuesday. It just won’t be for Kaulig Racing.
Daniel Dye issues statement about his resignation
“I’m incredibly thankful for my time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and for the chance to compete with Kaulig Racing alongside some of the most passionate fans in motorsports. At this time, I am stepping away from that role,” Dye wrote in a statement he shared on X.
“NASCAR has played a meaningful role in my development, and I don’t take that opportunity lightly.
“After a lot of honest self-reflection and guidance from mentors I trust, I’ve decided the smartest move for my career is to realign my focus on my long-term objective of becoming a successful driver at the highest level of stock car racing.
“Now that I’m reinstated, I’m optimistic about what the future holds and look forward to working hard at my next opportunity.
“This sport and its fans mean everything to me, and I can’t wait to get back to it focused on the real goal more than ever.”
In April 2022, NASCAR also suspended Daniel Dye for allegedly assaulting a high school classmate.Dye later had the charge dropped after fulfilling a deferred prosecution agreement that called for completion of community service and an anger management course.
Kaulig Racing also issued a statement
While Daniel Dye met the conditions of his suspension, including undergoing sensitivity training, both Kaulig and Ram have apparently decided to move on. Instead of returning Dye to this seat, Corey Lajoie will drive the No. 10 Ram entry at Rockingham this weekend and for the rest of 2026.
“Kaulig Racing has accepted Daniel Dye’s resignation,” Kaulig Racing said in their own statement posted to X. “And we wish him great success in the pursuit of his personal and professional goals.”
