NASCAR Fans Flood Sabrina Carpenter’s Instagram Comments To Support Driver Shooting His Shot

Life is pretty good these days for NASCAR Cup Series driver William Byron. Byron recently won the Daytona 500 for the second year running, surpassing Jeff Gordon as the youngest driver to win the Great American Race multiple times. He’s also among the favorites to win the series championship after making the championship race in Phoenix each of the past two seasons.

But despite those successes, Byron found himself at the center of a story that had nothing to do with the track this week. The 27-year-old was accused of shooting his shot with pop superstar Sabrina Carpenter under an Instagram post promoting her appearance on the cover of Vogue Magazine. Byron then took to Twitter to deny the allegations, claiming that it was either an imposter or that the comment never happened to begin with.

But there are few communities as supportive of their favorite athletes as the NASCAR community. So fans, hoping to bolster Byron’s case to date the 25-year-old blonde bombshell, bombarded her comments.

“Thanks @williambyron for saving my dog from a house fire, you’re such a great guy,” one fan commented.

@williambyron thanks so much for taking my grandma to her doctor’s appointment last week. Meant a lot even tho you were busy with 500 prep. How did that race go, by the way,” commented another.

Fellow NASCAR Cup Series driver Carson Hocevar got in on the fun while on an iRacing live stream.

“Yeah, Byron let me borrow his Lambo the other day and then flew me on his private jet back from Daytona right after he won. So I appreciate (that). Nice guy. Sabrina is lucky to have him,” Hocevar joked.

Carpenter’s social media engagement is typically strong. But NASCAR fans took things to the next levels. The posts now has hundreds and hundreds of comments calling for her to either given Byron a chance or sharing some story about a heroic feat he accomplished.

Byron isn’t exactly telling fans to cool it with the comments, either. The Hendrick Motorsports star had famously been in a relationship with the sister of friend and fellow NASCAR driver Ryan Blaney. However, reports suggest that Byron and Erin Blaney ended their four-year relationship sometime in late 2024.

That leaves the newly single superstar driver to pursue Carpenter, who herself had been dating movie star Barry Keoghan until December of last year. Carpenter then indirectly called out Keoghan in a remake of the music video for her hit single “Please, Please, Please.”

In all likelihood the playful interaction probably comes to nothing. But hey, you miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take.
