Arkansas Basketball Players Trash Tennessee’s Most Expensive Five-Star Recruit On Explicit Hot Mic

Trevon Brazile and Darius Acuff could not believe how many free throws Nate Ament shot during the college basketball game between Tennessee and Arkansas. They were caught laughing at the five-star freshman on an explicit hot mic during their press conference.

Unfortunately, we won’t get a rematch during the regular season.

It will be interesting to see whether the Volunteers can get more out of their star player down the closing stretch of the college basketball season. He is not providing the immediate impact that was expected.

Who is Nate Ament?

The 6-foot-10, 185-pound freshman ranked as the No. 4 overall player in the recruiting Class of 2025 out of the Highland School in Virginia. Ament ultimately chose to play for Tennessee over Louisville, Duke, Kentucky, Arkansas and 23 others.

It was a huge get for the Volunteers that likely cost them a lot of money in NIL. His financial agreement supposedly hovers in the $3-5 million range but an exact number has not been made public.

The investment has not yet paid off through the first 14 games of his freshman season.

Nate Ament is currently averaging 15.2 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game but he is shooting only 39.8% and put up some stinkers along the way. Saturday was one of them.

He scored 13 points on 44.4% shooting in an 11-point loss to Arkansas. The more glaring issue was at the free throw line. Tennessee shot 23 free throws. Ament took 11 of them but he made only five.

Trevon Brazile and Darius Acuff laughed at Tennessee’s star player.

Darius Acuff Jr. finished with a game-high 29 points in the win over the Volunteers. Trevon Brazile finished with a game-high seven rebounds. They were crucial to the victory.

As such, the two Razorbacks stars were made available to the media after the game.

Both of them seemed to forget that the microphones were on. Brazile and Acuff looked at the stat sheet to discuss Nate Ament and his free throws. Their discussion was caught by the hot mic. It was hilarious.

These two schools already hate each other as conference foes but this will only add fuel to the fire. Although Brazile and Acuff could’ve said a lot worse, what they said was not complimentary.

We’ll see how the rest of this college basketball season plays out. Maybe Tennessee and Arkansas will play each other again during the SEC Tournament or March Madness. That would be spicy!
