Nate Silver’s Model Couldn’t Predict This Brutal Hand Deep On Day 3 Of WSOP Tournament (Video)

Nate Silver became a household name back in 2008/09 when his 538 forecasting model successfully predicted 49 of 50 states in the 2008 Presidential Election. Since then, well, he’s at least seen some success at the poker table!

Nate Silver went DEEP in the 2023 World Series of Poker Main Event finishing in 87th place in that WSOP tourney that saw 10,043 entrants and he took home $92,600 for his 87th place finish. With the 2024 WSOP in full swing, Nate Silver was already back at it and going deep in another tournament. This time in Event #16 (5,000 No-Limit Hold’em 8-Handed) where he finished in 18th place for $26,007.

It was the manner in which he exited the tournament though that is worth checking out, not necessarily the result. He is wearing a different (beat up) hat than he was in the Main Event last year so maybe he needs to switch back to the lucky hat… PokerGo shared video of the wild hand:

If any mistake is made here, it’s Nate Silver getting all of his chips in before the turn. It was evident his opponent had strength but of course he’d been at that table for a while and had some measure of a read on Hart. Regardless, Silver was bounced when the cooler hit. Nate Silver’s 2023 WSOP Main Event ended on Pocket 6s after falling to pocket 7s.

It’s worth mentioning that Nate Silver has already cashed in 3 WSOP events this Summer, in events #5, #12, and now #16.

What’s even more wild is this wasn’t even the craziest hand that hour. Just 17 minutes prior to posting video of that Nate Silver WSOP hand, PokerGo shared this video which they say is an early contender for Hand of the Summer.

10-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner and one of the greatest ever on the felt, Erik Seidel, got bounced out of the tournament after his opponent hit a 1-outer:

Always the professional, Erik Seidel didn’t throw a tantrum. He simply congratulated his opponent then got up and left. All class.
