NBA Commissioner Adam Silver Bamboozled By NY Liberty Mascot Ellie The Elephant

Those of you who are frequent readers of BroBible dot com (we appreciate your patronage!) may know that there are few things I love more than a good sports mascot.

Western Kentucky’s Big Red? Legend. Philadelphia Flyers mascot Gritty? World’s greatest chaos agent. The University of Georgia’s UGA? Adorable.

But perhaps the most underrated mascot in the game right now is New York Liberty mascot Ellie the Elephant, who recently introduced herself to NBA commissioner Adam Silver in the most hilarious way possible.

The Liberty mascot crashed the stage Tuesday at a Nike basketball summit that featured Silver, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nike CEO Elliott Hill, and New York Liberty superstar Sabrina Ionescu.

When she began to dance, Silver seemed amused at first. But as Ellie continued to dance (real ones know she can be a little extra), Silver seemingly grew more and more annoyed as well as confused.

All Ionescu could do was laugh, as she’s been privy to Elie’s shenanigans for several years now.

The longer Ellie carried on, the more confused Silver seemed to grow over the whole thing. But Silver should know that Ellie is a genuine star.

She has over 184,000 followers on TikTok and has been spotted with celebrities such as Usher, Childish Gambino, Whoopi Goldberg and more.

In fact, an argument could be made that Ellie was the biggest star on stage at the Nike summit. Silver was just lucky to be in the presence of greatness.

Mascots are genuinely a gift to the world for sports fans, and we need to protect them (especially Ellie) at all costs.
