NBA free agent Cam Payne was arrested last month after a late-night incident where he provided police with a fake name.
Police arrested Payne, who last played for the Philadelphia 76ers, on the morning of June 14th according to TMZ Sports after he repeatedly refused to give officers his real name during a police investigation.
Payne reportedly made the 911 call that led to the investigation.

Cam Payne Refused To Give Police Officers His Name Before Arrest
Scottsdale Police claims in its report that Payne called cops at around 2:44 AM after getting into an argument with his girlfriend.
Police arrived to the scene only to be told by Payne and his girlfriend that their presence was no longer required.
Officers then claim they told Payne they could finish the investigation if he provided them with his name and date of birth.
That’s when things allegedly took a turn.
Payne allegedly refused to tell them who he was, repeatedly telling them that his name is “Terry Johnson.”
Police then told Payne that they believed he was lying, to which he replied “that’s fine.”
Officers stated that Payne did eventually write his name down, but then told them “no, that’s my fake name, can you please leave?”
At that point, they told Payne that if he did not provide them with his name that he would be handcuffed and arrested.
“If you want to arrest me for giving you a fake name,” officers say he told them, “congratulations.”
And, well, that’s exactly what they did.
Police then arrested the 29-year-old and took him to jail. He was booked on two separate charges — one count of refusal to provide a truthful name and one count of false report to law enforcement.
He was released shortly after.
Payne averaged 7.4 points per game in 78 games for the Milwaukee Bucks and 76ers in 2023-24.
