Last year, the basketball world was struck with a tragedy when Terrence Clarke died in a car accident just months before he was going to be selected in the NBA draft. Since then, the league has done its best to make sure he was still acknowledged as a member of the NBA family.
Last year, they made Clarke an honorary pick in the draft.

This year, they have taken another step to acknowledge the career that might’ve been for Clarke. According to TMZ Sports, the NBA sent Clarke’s mom a Rising Stars jersey for her son. Clarke’s mom, Osmine, shared the NBA’s gesture on her Instagram account and thanked the agency that was expected to represent her son.
“Thanks 🙏🏾 to Klutch team for sending me T’s jerseys. I’m so sorry 😢 he wasn’t able to showcase his talent before leaving us. Thanks again for all who made this possible a through STAR 🌟 looking over us love ❤️ you 5”
It’s a really cool gesture from the league to acknowledge a young talent that was lost too soon during their All-Star weekend.
Clarke was a 5-star recruit in high school and was ranked in the top 10 of his recruiting class. He signed with Kentucky, but only played 8 games there. One of those games saw him drop 22 points against Georgia Tech, but we unfortunately only got a taste of his potential at the collegiate level.
It’s a shame that we never got to see Clarke play at the NBA level, but it is nice to see the league do something special for his mom on what could have been a very special weekend for him.
