After a successful 12-year NBA career, French guard Evan Fournier is now playing out the back end of his basketball career overseas for Greek club Olympiacos. On Friday, Fournier got a taste of just how seriously the Greeks take their basketball after he was ejected from Game 3 of the league’s finals for making an obscene gesture toward fans.
The incident occurred in the third quarter of the game against rival Panathinaikos. The game, which was initially scheduled for Wednesday, had already been delayed two days thanks to altercations in the first two games of the finals that caused the government of Greece to temporarily suspend the series.

Evan Fournier Gets In Altercation With Greek Fans After Hard Foul And Ugly Gesture
Midway through the quarter, fellow former NBA player Kendrick Nunn committed are hard foul on Fournier as the latter was going up for a shot. Fournier took exception to the foul, but teammates separated them before things escalated. He then walked toward Panathinaikos fans and appeared to make an obscene gesture in their direction. One of the fans responded by kicking an advertising board toward Fournier before referees intervened.
They kicked Fournier out of the game, but Olympiacos still managed to go on and claim the victory. With the win, Olympiacos went up 2-1 in the best-of-five series. Game 4 is scheduled for Sunday. Panathanaikos and Olympiacos are, by far, the two most successful teams in Greek League history. The two clubs have combined to win the league 54 times, including every year dating back to 2002.
AEK is the last team not named Panathinaikos or Olympiacos to win the league.
