For the first time in program history, the Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball team is 14-0 after a win over No. 9 Michigan State on Friday night.

The victory was the 18th in a row for the Huskers, who won the inaugural College Basketball Crown a year ago, and likely means they’ll enter the top 10 of the next AP Poll.

However, despite all the success, some of Nebraska’s players are imploring fans to chill out a bit.

Nebraska Basketball Players Ask Fans To Stop Storming The Court

Following the win over the perennial power Spartans and legendary coach Tom Izzo, Nebraska fans came pouring onto the court at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Izzo, surprisingly, didn’t mind the onrushing fans.

“I told my AD, I told my commissioner, I understand we got to be careful and all that, [but] I absolutely loved it,” he said after the loss. “Was I worried about anybody? I was hoping I got stomped on, to be very honest with you. I wouldn’t want those people to react [any differently]. They were lining up back there, I was thinking to myself, ‘Go for it.’

Ironically, it was a pair of Nebraska players who weren’t happy with the antics.

“If you’re the No. 13 against the No. 9 and you’re at home, in my opinion, you’re supposed to win that game,” senior center Rienk Mast said afterward. “I don’t blame the fans. They got excited for that win. From here on out, we’ve proven we belong in these games, and we’re supposed to win these types of games.”

Senior guard Jamarques Lawrence echoed those sentiments

“We’re supposed to win that game, guys,” he noted. “No more court storms, please. I just got to say that.”
