Netflix/MLB
The 2026 MLB season began on Wednesday night with a matchup between the New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants, and based on the response of fans, Netflix’s production of the broadcast was a disaster. There were multiple aspects of the broadcast that rubbed fans the wrong way, from the pregame festivities to the actual coverage of the game.
Whether it was the broadcast completely missing at-bats…

Or cutting to a mid-game interview instead of broadcasting the first ABS challenge in the league’s history…

Or its score bug…
I didn’t think a scorebug could get worse than the Bally Sports one

Most MLB fans thought Netflix’s broadcast of the opening night game between the New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants was a mess.
“Thanks, MLB, for putting baseball games on Netflix, Prime, Apple TV, Peacock, and The Dildo Channel, pretty much everywhere except the MLB network, because I enjoy paying for s— I can’t watch. You may think this is a ruse to get me to subscribe to all this stuff, when in reality, it just makes me hate baseball. Well done,” read on viral tweet.
MLB fans hated Netflix’s broadcast of the 2026 MLB Opening Night game, particularly the presence of comedian Bert Kreischer
One particular aspect of the broadcast that was grinding fans’ gears with the presence of the sweaty, red-faced, screaming “comedian” Bert Kreischer. To Kreischer’s credit, however, he did refrain from doing his HILARIOUS trademark bit of, wait for it… taking his shirt off!
“Is Bert Kreischer the least funny successful comic of all time?” one viral tweet read.
“How much longer do we have to pretend Bert Kreischer is funny?” agreed another.
“I’m always for fun but man I honestly hate all this pregame intro type s— MLB started doing recently. I don’t want Bert Kreischer yelling in my ear bro please get on with the game lmao.”
“Imagine paying $50M for MLB and then spending an entire half inning showing Bert Kreischer in a kayak.”
“Nothing says MLB Opening Night like Bert Kreischer screaming at you.”

Making matters worse for Netflix and MLB fans is that the game was a one-sided blowout, with the Yankees winning by a score of 7-0 after taking a 5-0 lead in the second inning.
