Jerod Mayo understands that players, fans and ownership are going to be frustrated when the New England Patriots don’t win games. However, he is not aware of any potential uprisings to unseat him as the head coach.
Perhaps that is exactly what those who are planning the coup want him to think!
Mayo took over for Bill Belichick in January after eight years with the organization as a player and five years as the inside linebackers coach. It was a fairly unprecedented move to replace the greatest coach in NFL history. A learning curve was to be expected. New England’s roster is not in position to compete for a championship.
The Patriots are 1-3. They narrowly escaped with a win over the Bengals in Week 1. Otherwise, this season has been an overwhelming disappointment and the locker room might be close to collapse.
Evan Lazar hosts a weekly podcast called ‘Catch 22‘ that typically drops on Thursdays. It is an official team-issued podcast and posts to the New England Patriots’ official channels on YouTube, Spotify, etc.
Lazar presented a bleak reality on the most recent episode of ‘Catch 22,’ which has since been scrubbed. He said that “right now they’re teetering on a mutiny in that locker room.” Those are his words.

Evan did not hold back during this 1 minute rant 🤯 pic.twitter.com/pXIsvyeTD1
Not long after the clip went extremely viral, Lazar issued a clarification and completely backtracked.

Meanwhile, the Patriots quietly removed the podcast episode from its YouTube channel. That specific portion of the podcast was also edited out of the audio on Apple and Spotify.
So the Audio is still up on on Spotify and Apple. The clip was from the 57:30 mark.

They completely scrubbed out the part where Evan Lazar called it a mutiny.
Heres a short clip that goes before the video I clipped into the start of his rant.

New England is obviously trying to erase Lazar’s concerning comments from the internet. It is far too late. The quote is everywhere.
Mayo was directly asked about what Lazar claimed at his press conference on Friday. He is entirely unaware of any potential mutinies that might be forming amongst his players.

The Patriots will host the Dolphins in Foxborough this Sunday. If they do not turn things around in a hurry, we are going to find out just how much truth there is/was to what Lazar had to say!
