This Is My New All-Time Favorite High School Basketball Clip And We Should Put It In The Louvre

This clip from a high school basketball game last year set to a slowed-down choral version of Madonna’s ‘Like A Prayer’ might be the best HS basketball clip of all-time. It’s certainly my new favorite.

For context, this is a game that took place last March between the Murray County Central Rebels and the Tracy Milroy Balaton Panthers. I don’t want to spoil the clip itself before you have a chance to see it but the game is decided on a last second miracle and this 61-second clip manages to perfectly capture all of the emotions felt in HS sports, the highs and the lows, all within a matter of seconds.

For some reason, this clip has just started to blow up on TikTok after it was posted to the KDOM Radio station’s page, a radio station in Minnesota, and it has exploded on TikTok. There’s actually a follow-up clip too that shows how the game almost went the other way with 2 seconds left:

For those saying there were still two-and-a-half seconds left on the clock after he made that shot, you’re not wrong. And things nearly went the other direction in the final from last March that Murray County Central ended up winning 84-83 over the Tracy Milroy Balaton Panthers. Here is a second clip of what happened with those two-ish seconds left on the clock:

For what it’s worth, seeing two HS varsity teams put up 80+ points each is incredibly respectable. I know that loss has to sting and for some people on the team it’ll linger forever. But man, that back-and-forth slow motion clip perfectly encapsulates the highs and lows of high school sports in a way that I cannot recall seeing in another clip. This one goes in the HS HoF.
