It isn’t unreasonable to say that Happy Gilmore 2 is the most highly anticipated Adam Sandler-backed movie in over a decade as the original stands proudly on the Mt. Rushmore of Happy Madison films.
Appearing this week on The Rich Eisen Show, actor Nick Swardson who is part of Adam Sandler’s inner circle and who is going to be an actor in Happy Gilmore 2, shared new details of the movie with Rich including when they’re going to start filming (September) and where they’ll start filming (New Jersey) along with details on his character.
Swardson tells Eisen that Happy Gilmore 2 doesn’t have a script yet which seems dicey given they’re less than two months away from beginning principal photography on the film but this is Adam Sandler we’re talking about here so who knows. Nick also says his character is going to be this like ‘1950s throwback golfer’ that will appear in flashbacks throughout the movie.

New Happy Gilmore 2 Details From Nick Swardson
Swardson was adamant that there isn’t a finished script yet. He says he was with Adam Sandler just two days prior and the script wasn’t done. Nick also said that writer Tim Herlihy is working on the Happy Gilmore 2 script with Sandler and it seems like they’ll be working on it right up to the point of filming.
Herlihy is best known for his work on SNL, The Wedding Singer, the original Happy Gilmore, and countless other works within the Happy-Madison universe. Given the success of the original film it’s very, very encouraging to hear that Herlihy and Gilmore are working together on the sequel.
It does seem like we will get a Tiger Woods cameo in the film as well, which will be excellent.
