Believe it or not, John Mara has serious aura. The 69-year-old owner of the New York Giants savagely taunted a group of hecklers with his Super Bowl rings even though his team has a losing record in the 13 years since its last NFL championship.
He does not care at all about what people have to say in the present because he already reached the mountaintop!
Mara took over the organization from his father in 2005 and quickly found success. New York won its first Super Bowl of the new millennium during his third season in charge. It returned to glory just four years later with another miraculous run in 2011.
However, the Giants have only made the playoffs twice in the last 13 years and won only one game in the playoffs. They are a combined 72-115 during that stretch. Brian Daboll is currently on the hot seat after a 2-3 start to the 2024 season. Daniel Jones is getting paid a lot of money to be the franchise quarterback even though he has lost 15 more games than he has won as the starter.
None of that matters because John Mara has two rings!!
Although that is not entirely true, it certainly helps to shut people up— as seen in a new video from Seattle last weekend. A group of Seahawks fans tried to heckle Mara when he walked out of the tunnel and onto the field during pregame. His response to their quips couldn’t be much cooler.
Mara flipped his sunglasses over his eyes and threw his two Super Bowl rings right back in their faces. Seattle has only one Super Bowl win in franchise history. He has two!

This singular 15-second video increased Mara’s street cred to unprecedented levels among NFL ownership. Say what you will about the Giants. Say what you will about its management.
But you cannot discredit how cool of a move this is from Mara!
