New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson saw his name pop up in the latest Department of Justice release of files related to the Jeffrey Epstein case. However, the former NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year says that he has a good excuse.

According to email documents, Wilson and Epstein, or at least his associates, were in contact via email in January of 2019. That was just several months before Epstein is alleged to have taken his own life in prison.

The details of the emails, however, tell a different story. Wilson was trying to acquire a private plane that Epstein owned. But he says that he never met or even spoke with the now disgraced felon and financier.

Russell Wilson Makes It Abundantly Clear He Wasn’t Cool With Jeffrey Epstein

Wilson took to social media on Sunday night to clarify exactly what the emails were about, and to distance himself from Epstein as much as he could.

NOPE!!! ABSOLUTELY NOT! Not TODAY satan!” he wrote. “Some Random plane broker tried to sell me a plane. I had no idea whose plane and never bought the plane. Never talked nor Never met the man. Thank God!!

At that point, Epstein was still a free man. But just six months later, he would be arrested on charges of sex trafficking of minors and conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of minors. One month later, he was found dead in his jail cell.

It is entirely possible that Wilson had no idea who he was dealing with. In fact, given his lack of billionaire status or significant political power, it was probably even more likely.

But it’s still an unfortunate tie for the 10-time Pro Bowler and likely future Hall of Famer.
