Last offseason, the New York Knicks were expected to make some big moves to try and get themselves back into contention in the Eastern Conference after a disappointing 2021-22 season.
They ended up signing Jalen Brunson, who quickly turned into a star for them, but that move was only enough to get them through the first round of the playoffs.
Last offseason, they missed out on a move for Donovan Mitchell, but this offseason, Knicks fans are expecting to see them land one more star to finally make themselves a real contender.
There aren’t many big stars available in free agency this offseason who could put the Knicks over the top, likely leaving them to try and make a big trade if they are going to add a difference maker.
According to a new report, it looks like their move could be a huge one.

With James Harden expected to leave the 76ers and Embiid reportedly not happy about what the team gave up to get Harden in the first place or that they fired Doc Rivers, maybe it’s possible that he will actually force his way out of Philadelphia.
It would be surprising to see it actually happen, but if it did, the move would be costly for the Knicks.
Rudy Gobert essentially got the Jazz 5 1st rounders plus a pick swap and 4 players.
If that’s the value of Rudy Gobert, then what do you need to give up to get Joel Embiid?
Luckily for the Knicks, they have a strong combination of future picks and young talent they could offer up.
If they could make it happen, Embiid would immediately make the Knicks a contender as he would give them the elite player they were missing during their playoff run this season.
It would still be shocking to see the 76ers actually trade Embiid, but it would be massive for the New York Knicks if they could make a move happen.
