The New York Knicks stunned the NBA and as the sports world as a whole when they traded for Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Karl-Anthony Towns.
Towns, a four-time NBA All-Star and New Jersey native, goes to New York in exchance for Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
The Knicks are nearing a trade to send package around Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo to Minnesota for Karl-Anthony Towns, sources tell me and @JonKrawczynski. https://t.co/X74Nm280Og

Charania did not state whether the Minnesota Timberwolves would also receive draft compensation in the deal.
But the trade sent the sports world into an absolute frenzy on Twitter.

But not everybody saw it as a great move for the Knicks.
KAT doesn’t fit the Knicks culture at all. DDV getting traded after all the Nova stuff. Randle/Gobert spacing feels weird. Really have no feel for this trade at all lmao.

Towns spent four of his first five NBA seasons playing under Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau in Minnesota. He made the All-Star Game each of the final two seasons under Thibodeau.
The two did not always get along. But Towns says they’ve since cleared the air.
Towns told reporters that they “squashed” their beef years ago: “Two men grown men got together and had a conversation.”
Apparently whatever that conversation was, it was enough to convince them to want to reunite in Madison Square Garden.
