New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo suffered a scary moment on Monday when collapsed at the team’s, sending him to the hospital.

Nimmo missed the Mets‘ 9-7 win over the Washington Nationals following the incident, but thankfully he appears to be in full health.

The 31-year-old fainted in the bathroom of his hotel room, hitting his head before eventually coming to and calling the Mets training staff.

Nimmo remained in the hospital on Monday afternoon but was released prior to the game. However, Jeff McNeil took his place in the field.

“He went through all the tests this morning,” Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said of the incident. “Wanted to make sure we weren’t missing anything, Luckily everything came back negative, so I think we got lucky there.”

Nimmo spoke with reporters following the incident and appeared okay, albeit rattled.

“I was definitely scared and confused when I woke up,” Nimmo said.

He told reporters that a leg cramp woke him up in the middle of the night. He then walked to the bathroom where he eventually lost consciousness.

“When I got the cramp it probably spiked my blood pressure and got me up,” Nimmo said. “And then when I was not feeling well I started to get a little bit anxious, ‘OK, now what do I do? Where do I need to go,’ and all those kinds of things start entering the mind.”

Nimmo said he had tingling in his hands and he got overheated before fainting.

He told reporters he had never previously fainted.

Medical workers performed both an CT scan and EKG. Both tests came back negative.

Thankfully, it appears that Nimmo suffered no long-term damage due to the incident and has no underlying illness. But it was surely a scary incident.

The seven-year MLB veteran is hitting .247 with 13 home runs 50 RBIs this season.
