NFL Insider: Vibe Inside Jets’ Building Is ‘Terrible’ Because Aaron Rodgers Is Not A ‘Team Player’

An NFL insider shared his scathing thoughts about Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets ahead of the start of the 2024/25 season.

According to an anonymous NFL agent, the vibe inside the New York Jets’ building is “terrible” due to how much power the organization has given Aaron Rodgers and how little of a “team player” he’s become.

The agent, speaking to The Athletic, also pointed to Rodgers’ decision to skip mandatory minicamp to take a vacation to Egypt.

“There is complete disarray over there,” the agent told The Athletic‘s Ben Standig of the current state of the Jets organization.

“Look at how they’ve handled Aaron Rodgers. Has one player had more power than him? He skipped minicamp. They have been unable to convert him into a team player. The vibe inside the building is terrible.”

While all is currently quiet on the Jets-tern front, Gang Green — who are looking to end a 13-year-long playoff drought, the longest in American professional sports — could unravel quite quickly if Rodgers doesn’t deliver.

The Jets open their season with two consecutive road games, the first of which is against the NFC champion San Francisco 49ers in a nationally televised Monday Night Football game. That matchup will be Rodgers’ first time seeing live NFL action since tearing his Achilles just four snaps into his Jets career.

If the Jets get waxed by the 49ers — which is certainly likely given they’re consistently one of the most excellent teams in the NFL in recent years — the pressure on the Jets to beat the Titans in Week 2 before their home opener in Week 3 will be immense.

Rodgers may not even be able to deliver the type of QB play that the Jets will need to reach the playoffs, as one anonymous NFL head coach told The Athletic that Rodgers, essentially, looked washed even before he tore his Achilles.

“You go back and watch those first four plays before he got hurt, he did not look good,” the coach said. “He looks old. If they can’t protect him and can’t run the football, it’ll be just what you saw in the late stages in Green Bay. He became ineffective. I’m looking at what he is, not who he is.”

At this time, the Jets are 4.5-point underdogs in the Week 1 matchup against the Niners.
