The prices of concessions at major sporting events — NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, UFC, MLS, etc. are all guilty of this — have reached exorbitant levels and show no signs of slowing down, either.

According to a sports marketing research firm, the cost of being an NFL fan increased by 7% over the last year, with beer prices at the stadiums increasing 20% year-over-year.

The study, conducted by Team Marketing Reportalso revealed that the Philadelphia Eagles have the most expensive beer in the NFL, while the Detroit Lions and Atlanta Falcons have the cheapest.

“New data from the sports marketing company Team Marketing Report reveals the 2023 NFL Fan Cost Index rose by over seven percent year-over-year, with a total cost of attendance at a league average of $631.63.”

“This season, the data from Team Marketing Report indicates that the smallest beer size at every stadium (a 14.5 ounce serving, on average) ran fans $8.81, or $9.76 per pint — a 20 cent increase year-over-year.” [via Vine Pair]

The Price of a 16oz Beet at NFL Stadiums, from Most to Least Expensive

  1. Philadelphia Eagles – $14.67
  2. Los Angeles Chargers, Los Angeles Rams – $13.75
  3. Las Vegas Raiders – $12.00
  4. San Francisco 49ers, New Orleans Saints, Jacksonville Jaguars – $11.50
  5. Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, New York Giants, Washington Commanders – $11.00
  6. Tennessee Titans, Seattle Seahawks, Carolina Panthers – $10.50
  7. NFL AVERAGE – $9.56
  8. Green Bay Packers, Dallas Cowboys – $9.50
  9. Pittsburgh Steelers – $9.29
  10. Chicago Bears, Buffalo Bills – $8.80
  11. Tampa Bay Bucs – $8.63
  12. Kansas City Chiefs – $8.50
  13. New England Patriots – $8.40
  14. Baltimore Ravens, Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns – $8.13
  15. Houston Texans, Minnesota Vikings, Indianapolis Colts – $8.00
  16. Denver Broncos – $7.50
  17. Cincinnati Bengals – $6.59
  18. Detroit Lions, Atlanta Falcons – $6.25

Here are some of the most noteworthy observations, the foremost being that 14 of the NFL’s 32 franchises are charging more than $10 per beer. Jacksonville charging more for beer than both of the New York franchises is a shocker, as well.

There’s also the fact that the Eagles are somewhat surprisingly selling the most expensive beer in the NFL even though their fans are known to be some of the most rabid — perhaps the prices are a subtle effort to dissuade them from over-indulging.

Beer prices at this year’s Super Bowl were unsurprisingly higher than average, with cans of Coors, Miller, and Bud Light costing $14.99, and cas of Michelob Ultra, Bud Light Seltzer, Stella Artois, Estrella Jalisco, Golden Road Mango Cart, Elysian Space Dust IPA, and Kona Big Wave going for $18.99.
