NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is defending Bad Bunny.

Since naming Bad Bunny the Super Bowl halftime show performer, the NFL has faced backlash from fans opposed to the selection.

The backlash intensified after the Puerto Rican superstar sent a political message while winning his Grammy award over the weekend.

“Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say, ICE out,” Bad Bunny said during his Grammys acceptance speech.

On Monday, during his yearly press conference, Goodell defended Bad Bunny amid backlash.

“Listen, Bad Bunny is, and I think that was demonstrated last night, one of the great artists in the world. That’s one of the reasons we chose him. But the other reason is he understood the platform he was on, and that this platform is used to unite people and to be able to bring people together with their creativity, with their talent, and to be able to use this moment to do that. I think artists in the past have done that, I think Bad Bunny understands that, and I think he’ll have a great performance.”

Conservative fans who are not into Bad Bunny can watch Turning Point USA’s Super Bowl halftime show featuring Kid Rock.
