Louisiana-Lafayette wide receiver Michael Jefferson had been hospitalized since Easter after being hit by a drunk driver.

The NFL Draft prospect was finally released on Wednesday. However, he’s still dealing with injuries from the incident.

Now, Jefferson’s attorney issues an official statement about the incident and what’s in store for the prospect receiver.

Adam Schefter shares the statement, revealing that Michael Jeffers, “be able to play in 2024.” Here is the attorney’s statement.

It’s unfortunate that Michael Jefferson had to go through this horrific incident. Drunk driving is never okay. Luckily, the NFL Draft prospect wasn’t killed in the accident.

The exact injuries he is rehabbing from are currently unknown.

His future in the NFL is still in jeopardy though. There’s a chance he goes undrafted after being pegged as a middle-round pick, per ESPN.

Jefferson proved to be a reliable pass option for Louisianna-Lafayette during the 2022 campaign. He finished the season with 51 receptions, 810 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns.

Considering he’ll be unavailable for the 2023 season, there’s a chance the wide receiver prospect falls in the NFL Draft. Even so, he seems to be an excellent prospect for any team to stash on the IR for the time being.

So, hopefully, Michael Jefferson makes a full recovery and is able to get back on the field as soon as possible.
