Derek Carr scored a rushing touchdown in Sunday’s win over the Cowboys, and he quickly celebrated with a Michael Jackson inspired dance in the endzone.

Pulling out one of Jackson’s patented moves, he made sure to do his jig right in front of the cameras with the NFL’s eyes upon him.

The dance was short, lasting less than a few seconds. A quick thrust of the hips, and he was done!

“I was a dancer back in my day,” the quarterback said of the celebration. “Don’t let the four kids fool ya. I had to lure their mom in somehow.”

The dance quickly went viral, even being promoted on the NFL’s official Instagram page.

The No Fun League *celebrating* its players having a good time? Shocking!!

The league’s stance on the jig wouldn’t last long.

The NFL said, “Not, so fast my friends…”

Just days after hyping up Derek Carr and his dance, the league hit him with a $14,000 fine.

More from Pro Football Talk:

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the NFL has fined Saints quarterback Derek Carr $14,000 for a touchdown celebration against the Cowboys that mimicked a Michael Jackson dance move, including the customary crotch grab

Once upon a time, the NFL had no problem with Michael Jackson dance moves. As performed by Michael Jackson. At the Super Bowl.

The hypocrisy! He didn’t even break the McCringleberry two-pump rule!

Carr will likely take the fine in stride. He’ll take his most recent win with him.

New Orleans has been the surprise team thus far in the NFL season, ripping off a pair of dominant wins over Dallas and Carolina. To this point, they’ve outscored their foes by a combined 62 points.

Carr’s rushing touchdown was something to celebrate as it came towards the end of a 44-19 shellacking of the Cowboys.

That said, he might keep the dances a bit more PG the next time he finds the endzone.
