Pretty soon, there will be a new member of billionaire Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt’s family. Over the weekend, his 27-year-old daughter, Gracie Hunt, announced her engagement to someone the family is very familiar with: Derek Green.
That is because Derek Green is the son of former NFL quarterback Trent Green. From 2001 to 2006, Trent was the starting quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs.
“It was always you,” Gracie Hunt wrote on social media along with photos from Green’s very elaborate proposal.
In one photo, Derek, 26, is on one knee, proposing to Gracie Hunt in front of a large outdoor altar covered in white flowers and candles, likely in the desert, based on the cactus in the photo.
In another photo, Gracie Hunt’s emerald-cut engagement ring is adorned with white diamonds and a single emerald stone along the band. Another picture showed the couple sharing a kiss surrounded by lit candles.
The series of photos also revealed Gracie’s dad, Clark, and mom, Tavia, as well as Derek’s parents, Trent, and Julie Green, were on hand for the occasion.
“Couldn’t be happier to gain another daughter!!” Julie Green commented on Instagram. “Congratulations D and G! Love you both so much!!”
“We’re getting another SON!!,” Tavia Hunt wrote, adding, “Gracie Green has a nice ring to it!!” She also added, “Forever looks so beautiful on these two.”
Relationship timeline between Gracie Hunt and Derek Green
Gracie Hunt first revealed she was dating Derek Green in an Instagram post in May of 2025. Hunt had hinted at a new relationship in an Instagram picture of herself embracing an unidentified man at Arrowhead Stadium.
“After meeting 7.5 years ago in this place… all along there was some invisible string,” she wrote in April.
In another Instagram post shared in July 2025, Hunt noted that she and Derek Green had been “friends since 2017.”
“Derek and I have known each other our whole lives,” Gracie Hunt then told People in August. “We would actually play together as babies during the Chiefs’ Christmas parties every year, and then we reconnected as adults in 2017 and met on the sidelines pregame.”
Since then, she said they “have been inseparable ever since.”
