How do NFL players really feel about Taylor Swift and how much attention she’s getting from the league?

We finally have an answer after a new anonymous poll from The Athletic asked NFL players what they thought about Taylor Swift’s presence at Kansas City Chiefs games in support of boyfriend Travis Kelce.

The results, unsurprisingly, don’t look good for Swift haters.

When asked “Has Taylor Swift’s presence at Chiefs games been a positive for the NFL, a negative, or neither,” this is how players responded.

  • Positive – 72.5%
  • Negative 4.9%
  • Neither 22.5 %

NFL Players Largely Believe That Taylor Swift Has Been A Positive For League Per Poll

“I think it’s been positive for the league,” one player told The Athletic. “I think that at the end of the day, it’s a business and you need to get as many eyes on it as possible. And she brings a lot of eyes, so, you know, if that increases the salary cap, I don’t think anybody’s gonna be too mad about that one.”

But what about the other side of the coin? In total, The Athletic polled 102 players. Which means that five of those players feel Swift has had a negative effect on the league.

Here’s what one of those players had to say:

“I feel like she is getting unnecessary coverage,” that player said. “There was the whole NFL opening season video on Twitter and she was featured five times and our quarterback was featured none. That’s not even right. She is not the NFL.”

Among the 23 players who claimed Swift was a net-neutral, one said that the league overexposed the pop superstar.

“It’s bringing more attention to the game,” he said, “but I feel like they’ve been using her face. If she’s at a game, they probably show her like six, seven times. People get … sick of it if they keep doing it over and over again. So I think they’ve got to find a balance.”

But hey, despite what players believe you’re always going to have angry oldheads like Tony Dungy trying to make up false narratives.
