Three-time NFL Pro Bowler Marlon Humphrey is now expressing remorse after a tweet calling Team USA gymnasts Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles disgusting.

Humphrey made the disparaging remark about the star gymnasts after Biles and Chiles, who took silver and bronze respectively, congratulated Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade on her gold medal with the women’s floor routine.

Both Biles and Chiles bowed in the direction of Andrade, who returned from a slew of serious injuries to claim gold.

Andrade, 25, suffered three Torn ACL injuries in a span of four years at one point before returning to claim gold in the vault even in Tokyo. This year, she proved to be Biles’ toughest competitor in the All-Around portion of the competition, taking silver.

“I think it’s all about sportsmanship, and we don’t care whether we win or lose. We’re always going to keep a good face and support our competitors because they’ve worked just as hard as we have for that moment,” Biles said on the TODAY show on Tuesday.

“So you have to give them their flowers,” she continued. “And that’s exactly what me and Jordan were doing, and we were so happy for her. She deserved it. She had the best floor routine of the day and in the Olympics. So it’s like, yeah, she deserved it.”

Humphrey received plenty of backlash for his comments.

I’m lowkey getting cooked right now. I think I’m getting cussed out in Brazilian on Instagram lol,” he tweeted.

On one hand, you can understand why he may not like bowing to someone on the medal stand who just beat you. But it’s really not his place to decide.

Andrade, like Biles, is an icon in the world of gymnastics. She took a remarkable road to becoming one of the world’s best. So Biles is right, she deserves her flows. And she and Chiles are the ones who earned the right to decide how they celebrate her.
