On Tuesday, John Harbaugh’s time with the Ravens came to an end after 18 seasons in Baltimore. It doesn’t seem like he’ll be out of a job for long, as his agent fielded a flood of calls in the wake of his dismissal, which included one from a team that currently doesn’t have a head coaching vacancy.
The day after the NFL’s regular season wraps up is known as “Black Monday,” as teams that are looking to make some changes after missing the playoffs usually don’t waste any time parting ways with head coaches and front-office executives who failed to live up to expectations.
The Falcons didn’t even wait for Sunday to come to an end before dismissing Raheem Morris hours after he led the team to a victory over the Saints. The Browns made Kevin Stefanski the first casualty of Black Monday before the Cardinals filed suit by dismissing Jonthan Gannon and the Raiders kicked Pete Carroll to the curb after a single season.
The writing was on the wall for most of those guys, and while John Harbaugh was on the hot seat, it seemed like he may have avoided the same fate. However, that did not end up being the case, as his tenure with the Ravens came to an end on Tuesday night.
All signs point to Harbaugh being a top contender for one of the other vacancies, but it appears he’s also attracted the interest of a franchise that was still sticking with its head coach when it learned he was on the market.
John Harbaugh’s agent got a call from a team that hasn’t fired its head coach after his time with the Ravens came to an end
As things currently stand, there are seven NFL teams that will be conducting a search for a new head coach ahead of next season.
According to Adam Schefter, all of them are interested in interviewing Harbaugh, as his agent told the insider he was contacted by seven teams after he was let go by the Ravens—which means one of those calls came from a franchise that has not parted ways with its head coach.
Mike Tomlin, Todd Bowles, and Mike McDaniel are the top culprits when it comes to coaches who have reasons to be worried about their job security. If Josina Anderson is to be believed, Miami was the team that reached out to Harbaugh’s agent after the last man on that list led them to a 7-10 record after missing the playoffs for the second year in a row.
I’m told the #Dolphins have been in touch on John Harbaugh, per league sources.
It’s my understanding Todd Monken could have a path to still be Harbaugh’s OC (withstanding other opportunities), if Monken departs Baltimore with the arrival of the #Ravens new head coach.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see how things play out.
