Tennessee Titans linebacker Avery Williamson was planning to wear 9/11-themed cleats during the team’s opening game on Sunday. Williamson hoped to then auction off the cleats for charity to support the victims of the deadliest terrorist attack on American soil.

The NFL caught wind of Wiliamson’s plan and let him know that he would be fined if he wore the cleats during the September 11th game.

Williamson is still auctioning off the cleats, and the bidding already exceeded over $3,000
New York and New Jersey police unions have vowed to pay for Williamson’s fine if he chooses to wear the cleats on Sunday.
