This year’s NHL Draft is scheduled to take place later this month at The Sphere in Las Vegas. It will be the first opportunity for Utah, the franchise formerly known as the Arizona Coyotes, to take a step toward the new era with a player that could make a tangible difference in terms of success.
The National Hockey League’s newest team is reportedly taking some very unique qualifications into account!
Utah, which has yet to decide on its official name, will be located in Salt Lake City. The Coyotes will cease to exist as soon as the Stanley Cup Finals comes to an end and the new season begins.
All of the incumbent players will rollover to the new roster. Utah will draft its first player specific to the Beehive State-based organization with the sixth overall pick. Some of the prospects in the mix for that spot include Zeev Buium, Sam Dickinson, Zayne Parekh, Anton Silayev, and Carter Yakemchuck. Defense is likely the priority.
Whomever it is that gets drafted at No. 6 will meet some very specific qualifications.
NHL teams, and pro sports teams as a whole, often ask bizarre questions of its top prospects during draft interviews. The Avalanche is known for playing board games with players in an effort to get to know them better.
Utah is apparently taking a rather curious approach.
It was first reported that an unnamed team was asking about Snapchat scores and Uber ratings. We later found out that it was Utah.
There must be a method to the madness!
In some ways, a Snapchat score might reflect the amount of time spent on social media. Perhaps it has something to do with loyalty or behavior online. Who knows.
The rideshare question makes a little bit more sense. Although most 17- and 18-year-old prospects probably don’t take that many Ubers at their age, the score offers a small look at how a person treats other people.
Even if that is the logic behind the questions, they are still weird!
