Nick Bienz took social media by storm on Monday when he qualified for the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit. Much of that was due to his slightly inebriated state as he battled in a playoff during his qualifying event.
Bienz went viral for his performance after being seen in an interview with online personality ‘Monday Q Golf.’ He’s since received incredible support as he gears up for his first ever PGA Tour field!
In that interview, Bienz was seen sipping a couple of beers as he awaited the final results of the qualifier. Having shot a 65 earlier in the day, he initially believed he was a shoo-in to land one of the top four spots – which would secure that Rocket Mortgage Classic invite.
Those beers were meant to calm the nerves while he patiently waited. He’d soon find out, however, that he’d be walking back onto the course.
Bienz was one of five players tied atop the leaderboard when final scores rolled in. That meant a 5-for-4 playoff was needed to decide the lone man left out of the field.
Luckily, the golfer had effectively reached his perfect ‘beer-to-play’ ratio, which he set at three drinks.
Feeling relaxed, and maybe slightly buzzed, he battled through eight playoff holes to book his Rocket Mortgage ticket.
Nick Bienz is now receiving a ton of support.
He made an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show Tuesday to reflect on his round and speak on what he’s most looking forward to while in Detroit.

The attention wasn’t just seen through media exposure, though.
Golf fans did their part to help support his professional dream by doling out thousands in Venmo payments – around $13,000 so far… and still counting!
$13,000 and counting for Nick from all of you amazing people who Venmo’d him.
And he’s about to be on the McAfee show.

Heck, he might even land a sponsorship deal or two!
Bienz is already having the week of his life, and somehow it keeps getting better!
“I can’t believe the support I’ve been getting. This is the craziest day of my life and has turned my world upside down currently in a great way… I really don’t know how I ended up being famous for drinking beer and playing golf!”

Here’s to hoping the fun continues this weekend.
