Now that Nick Saban is no longer the head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide, he seemingly has no problem airing some of his dirty laundry.
Saban joined ABC’s coverage of the NFL Draft on Thursday night, and in the process, admitted to tampering with Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell while he was still in charge in Tuscaloosa.
So, Nick Saban just admitted that he tried to get Quinyon Mitchell into the portal while he was coaching at Alabama? And this dude talks so much noise about the current state of CFB.. Bro just snitched on himself. pic.twitter.com/N59DygZ1wR

“He was our number one guy in the portal last year, to try to get to come out of the portal. And he didn’t even get in the portal,” Saban said.
So basically he tampered with Mitchell, who was still a Toledo athlete, without the star cornerback ever even entering the transfer portal. As you can imagine, that’s a major no-no when it comes to the NCAA.
Fans were shocked to hear Saban say as much on live TV.
And here’s the video evidence.
I’m not saying Auburn hasn’t pulled something like this. But wow it’s bold to talk about on national television. https://t.co/Xty6J8SEVa

Mitchell, a 6-foot, 195-pound Florida native, was a superstar for the Rockets. He was a two-time first-team All-MAC selection and showed out against top competition at the Senior Bowl.
The Philadelphia Eagles selected him with the 22nd overall pick on Thursday, making him the first cornerback off the board in the draft.
As for Saban, he may be retired, but that doesn’t mean he’s done working.
The coaching legend was recently spotted talking to recruits at Alabama’s annual Crimson and White spring game. We’re sure new Bama head coach Kalen DeBoer doesn’t mind the help.
