The Philadelphia Eagles fell to 1-1 to begin the 2024/25 NFL season following their loss to Kirk Cousins and the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football (tough beat for those loyal Birds fans who were outside the stadium tailgating 15 hours prior to kickoff).
Following the Eagles brutal loss — which saw star running back Saquon Barkley drop a third-down catch that likely would’ve sealed the victory for Philly — one of the most common reactions on social media seemed to be NFL fans hating on head coach Nick Sirianni, whom one viral tweet dubbed as the “most unlikable coach in sports.”
Former ESPN personality and sports journalist Bomani Jones even speculated that Sirianni would be fired by the Eagles as soon as they’re out of playoff contention.
“Nick Sirianni may be the most fun coach to watch lose. That guy stinks,” said a viral tweet with over 65,000 views.
“Nick Sirianni gonna be pressing t-shirts on the Wildwood boardwalk next summer,” one post joked about Sirianni’s future.

Following the conclusion of the 2023/24 season, there were reports that Sirianni — who led the Philadelphia Eagles to the Super Bowl the previous season — was going to be fired by the organization. The Eagles ultimately decided to keep him, though, and the NFL world seems to believe they’re going to regret that decision sooner rather than later.
I’m still mystified how Nick Sirianni kept his job. When no one can explain what exactly that dude does.
He gave high fives, gave an interview, and yelled at refs. That’s what he did tonight.

Go through Sirianni’s 4th down Go/Kick decisions from the start of the game to the very end and you’ll see a coach who is no different than the Blackjack player who alternates between staying & hitting on 12 vs a 2 based on “feel”.
Just no cogent plan or philosophy, all vibes.

Sirianni and the Eagles are facing a crucial stretch of their season as their loss to the Atlanta Falcons at home is now being followed up with a trip to the Superdome in New Orleans to take on the Saints, who have looked like one of the best teams in the NFL thus far this season. Then, in Week 4, they’re on the road again to take on the Tampa Bay Bucs, who have also looked like one of the NFL’s elite outfits through the first two weeks.
