One of the stories of the Olympics unfolded on Monday as Australian Jess Fox, who has already taken home gold medals in Women’s Slalom C-1·Canoe slalom and Women’s Slalom K-1·Canoe slalom, lept into the water to celebrate with her sister Noemie Fox won gold in the Women’s Slalom KX-1·Canoe slalom.

With Noemie’s win on Monday, the 10th day of the 2024 Olympic Games, the Fox sisters have now swept the women’s canoeing events, taking home the gold in each of them — two for Jess and one for Noemie. Further, Jess Fox was also the flag bearer for her native Australia at the opening ceremony on July 26.

Noemie — making her debut at the Olympics — actually made it to the final ahead of her sister Jess, beating her on Sunday on the kayak cross semi-finals. Jess, who made her Olympics debut at just 18 years old, has appeared at the 2012, 2016, and 2020 Olympics. The win in kayak cross is her first ever Olympic gold medal.

“I’m just full of emotion. It’s just incredible what Noemie did today to make it through each round with such composure,” she told Nine. “I’m so proud of her and I’m drenched because I jumped into the water. There’s so much emotion in this moment. It’s amazing. “She nailed it. She was ahead from the first upstream and just held it together. And I’m, wow.”

Noemie Fox took home the gold medal in women’s kayak cross after finishing ahead of England’s Kimberley Woods, France’s Angele Hug, and Germany’s Elena Lilik at the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium. Both Noemie and Jess have now finished competing at the 2024 Olympics.

“I’m just full of emotion. It’s just incredible what Noemie did today to make it through each round with such composure,” Jess, 30 years old, told Australian media. “I’m so proud of her and I’m drenched because I jumped into the water. There’s so much emotion in this moment. It’s amazing. She nailed it. She was ahead from the first upstream and just held it together. And I’m, wow.”

With Fox’s win, Austalia now sits fifth in the medal count with 31 (as of Monday, August 5 at Noon): 13 gold medals (3 from the Fox sisters), 11 silver medals, and 8 bronze medals.
