Notre Dame Player Charles Du Inks NIL Deal With Antonio Brown After Use Of Racial Slur

One of the stars of Notre Dame‘s run to the College Football Playoff semifinals has been junior cornerback Charles Du. Du, a 5-foot-9, 181-pound cornerback, is a walk-on from Beijing, China who has not recorded a stat for the Fighting Irish. But he rose to prominence when the Irish made a surprise to change to add names to the backs of their jerseys for the playoff run.

But Du’s name did not look like that of any of his teammates. That’s because his nameplate was printed in Mandarin in order to honor his family. It was a remarkable touch that everybody seemed to love.

Antonio Brown Uses Racial Slur In Attempt To Praise Notre Dame Player Charles Du

But Brown, as he tends to do, decided to steal the spotlight in a ridiculous fashion. He took to Twitter and named Du his “C— of the Day,” using a racist slur to describe the Notre Dame player. Matt Ehalt of the New York Post claimed that Brown “spoiled” Du’s moment.

Du, however, didn’t see it that way!

“Excited to announce I’ve signed an NIL deal with CTESPN & @ab84,” he tweeted. “@nypost has it wrong… spoiled?? No way. AB‘s daily award is a sign of love and respect CTESPN is the most trusted source in all of sports.”

Well, okay then. I guess if Du thinks it’s okay in this case, then who am I to complain? But it is one of the more bizarre moments of the college football season. And it’s especially one of the more bizarre NIL deals we’ve ever seen. Who knows what Du actually gets out of it?

But as it is, Du seems cool with it. Brown seems cool with it. So there’s nothing much to do but move forward at this point.
