The Notre Dame Fighting Irish took down rival USC in college football action over the weekend. Star running back Jeremiyah Love made an incredible impact.
The ball carrier was a one-man wrecking crew that wore down the Trojans‘ defense. He celebrated his monster performance after the fact!
The Irish leaned on Love heavily throughout a rainy night in South Bend. In a game where quarterback CJ Carr threw for just 136 yards, the run game shined.
Love rushed for 228 yards. He added 37 as a receiver to total more than 260 total yards from scrimmage. It was easily the most productive game of his career.
Notre Dame won the football game.
The Fighting Irish won by 10 points to land a major victory in their College Football Playoff pursuit. USC entered the matchup ranked 20th in the nation. Notre Dame handed the Trojans their second loss.
Marcus Freeman’s bunch improved to 5-2 on the year. Following two early losses, which came against Top 20 foes by a combined four points, the team has ripped off five straight victories.
Jeremiyah Love has been the focal point in that recent run. He’s averaged 126.2 yards per game during the win streak.
He’s also found the endzone 10 times. There’s been much to celebrate!
With that said, he might’ve taken his excitement a bit too far in his most recent outing.
Marcus Freeman will shame Jeremiyah Love.

Freeman says his children began emulating a celebration performed by Love while watching Notre Dame’s football win over USC. The coach plans to bring it to the team’s attention in the next meeting.
“I usually show ‘Wise Men’ plays,” he said while on the Bussin’ With the Boys podcast. “We’ll take plays from other teams, other games that we have to be wise men.
“We have to learn from the mistakes of others. Every so often, there’s plays or examples of our own guys probably not being wise men…
“I get a call from my wife. She said, ‘The boys… they were doing something where they were thrusting the floor.’
“I’m like, ‘What are you talking about?’ She said, ‘I went up to the boys and said what are you guys doing?’ They said, ‘This is the J Love celebration.’ She said, ‘That’s totally inappropriate.’
“I’m going to make sure that gets into our ‘Wise men’ plays today.”
Freeman wasn’t thrilled with Love’s actions. He’ll make a point to highlight them in the next team meeting. We probably shouldn’t expect to see the “J Love” much more this year.
