Notre Dame’s New Shamrock Series Uniforms Are Great No Matter What Anybody Says

I have been accused, at times, of being what some would call a Notre Dame hater.

Maybe it’s because the Fighting Irish haven’t won a championship in over 30 years but are still considered a powerhouse. Maybe it’s the literal holier than thou attitude surrounding the program. Who can say?!

But even I, an alleged Notre Dame hater, cannot hate on the new Shamrock Series uniforms that the Irish revealed on Wednesday.

Notre Dame will wear the new jerseys against Army in Yankee Stadium on Nov. 23. The game marks the 100-year anniversary of an iconic matchup between the two teams at the famed Polo Grounds which is embedded in the history of sport thanks to famed sportswriter Grantland Rice.

“Outlined against a blue-gray October sky, the Four Horsemen rode again,” said in his now iconic game recap.

Notre Dame won that game 13-7.

Notre Dame Unveils Incredible New Shamrock Series Uniforms

Now, to commemorate the game and the story, the Fighting Irish will wear brand new blue-gray jerseys with foiled gold numbers and they look INCREDIBLE.

While some (*cough* FOOTBALL SCOOP *cough*) may try to tell you that these uniforms are bad, those people are WRONG.

The blue-gray base color is wildly easy on the eye and while the gold is a bit obnoxious, isn’t that the entire point of gold?

The numbers pop in a big way and the unis really aren’t overly complex, which is a big plus.

These are the hardest uni threads I’ve honestly ever seen. Good lord, the complimentary muted, textured grey with smooth foil-gold numbers? Such a play on textures. Absolute NAILS,” one twitter user wrote.

These are the best Shamrock series unis and it’s not even close. I absolutely love them,” said another.

The new digs easily clear the all-white look Notre Dame went with against BYU in 2022. And had I not been a Notre Dame hater (allegedly), I could even be talked into buying some of the associated gear.
