Novak Djokovic Burst Into Tears After Winning Gold At Paris Olympics

Novak Djokovic won a gold medal match against Carlos Alcaraz at the Paris Olympics on Sunday, securing top honors in the men’s tennis singles category.

After the fact, he was uncontrollably emotional.

The superstar took home his first career gold medal, ripping through the competition on his way to the podium. His final win came over Alcaraz, whom he’d lost to in his last head-to-head battle at Wimbledon.

Though tightly contested, Djokovic emerged victorious with 7-6(3) and 7-6(2) wins.

In his sixth Olympic try, he’d finally secured the elusive gold, essentially giving him every notable honor the sport has to offer.

This one might’ve been the most important to him.

After landing match point with a vicious forehand, he broke down.

Novak Djokovic fell to his knees after picking up the win, shedding tears on the court. That emotion would carry over into his post-match celebration.

Images of the tennis star embracing his family in the crowd are now circulating social media, showing one of the more powerful images of the Paris Olympics.

He couldn’t keep it together!

The win might’ve just solidified the 37-year-old’s spot as the best in his sport’s history, and being able to share the moment with friends and family was incredible.

“I’m overwhelmed with everything I’m feeling right now,” he said after the win. “Millions of different emotions… I’ve won everything there is to win probably in my individual career but winning… a golden medal for an Olympic Games for Serbia at the age of 37 is unprecedented.”

These moments are common at the Olympics with athletes given a chance to represent their countries. Still, they never get old!

Novak Djokovic can add another medal to his impressive trophy case when he leaves Paris. An incredible win.
