More often than not, art imitates life but the opposite wast true last night when former President Barack Obama unintentionally and hilarious brought the infamous handshake sketch from Key & Peele to real-life.

The legendary Key & Peele sketch happened more than once and I’ll give everyone the benefit of the doubt that they’ve seen at least one of the clips with the gist being that Obama would do very prim and proper handshakes with caucasians and then rizz it up for handshakes with black constituents.

Well, it happened. He did exactly that ahead of Team USA Basketball’s Olympic tuneup against Canada. President Obama went down the line and dapped up all the players then when he made it to the white coaches it was like a switch was flipped, exactly like the Key & Peele sketches of yesteryear. Here is Barack Obama bringing the Key & Peele sketch to real life:

While it appears to be unintentional the reverse could also be true. Obama has proven over the years that he has an incredible sense of humor and he could easily have done this as a joke but that seems pretty farfetched. The much more likely scenario is this Key & Peele sketch was spot on:

Perhaps the best part of the IRL clip above is the moment when former President Obama didn’t know what to do with Erik Spoelstra and went half-and-half with their handshake. Some might see that as the ultimate sign of respect (some = me).

For those who didn’t watch, Team USA came away with an 86-72 win over Canada at the T-Mobile Arena. Anthony Edwards had 13 points and Anthony Davis had a double-double. Team USA trailed early in the game but barely broke a sweat in route to an easy win. It bodes very well for the Olympic Games in Paris.
