Travis Kelce collided with wide receiver Xavier Worthy on the Kansas City Chiefs‘ first offensive drive of the 2025 NFL season. The injury creates a roster spot for Odell Beckham Jr.

He just so happened to be in attendance!

I don’t really know if the 32-year-old NFL veteran has anything left in the tank at this point but he might be worth a flier to find out. There is a now a need for pass-catchers in Kansas City!

Travis Kelce clobbered Xavier Worthy.

Taylor Swift is a big fan of former first-round draft pick Xavier Worthy.

Unfortunately, her husband accidentally took him out of the game on a collision over the middle.

It was pretty gnarly.

Worthy did not return to the game with what was ruled as a “shoulder injury.”

My initial diagnosis, as someone with zero medical experience, is a dislocated shoulder. It seemed like the Chiefs’ training staff was setting Worthy’s shoulder back into place when he got to the sideline.

If that is the case, a timeline for recovery could be anywhere from six to eight weeks for a first-time dislocation that does not require surgery. It would be four to six months if it requires surgery.

OBJ to the Kansas City Chiefs?

With Xavier Worthy likely out for at least a month, the Kansas City Chiefs will likely need to add another wide receiver. Rashee Rice is suspended. Jalen Royals is dealing with a knee injury.

One option could be Allen Robinson. He is available and willing!

Another option could be Odell Beckham Jr.

He and Travis Kelce are good friends. The latter recruited the former to Kansas City back in 2022.

OBJ was in attendance at the game in Brazil. Kelce made sure to say hello.

Conspiracy theorists on social media are choosing to believe Travis Kelce injured Xavier Worthy to create a roster spot for his friend OBJ. I don’t think it was on purpose but that reality does now exist.

Odell Beckham Jr. is a free agent. His production may not be anywhere close to what it used to be but he averaged 16.1 yards per catch on 35 catches with the Baltimore Ravens in 2023. That being said, his time with the Dolphins was not quite as successful so maybe there is nothing left in the tank. Worth a gamble?
