Olentangy Orange defeated Olentangy Liberty during the semifinal round of the high school football playoffs in Ohio. It was a hard-fought battle between two schools separated by less than 10 miles.

The losing team showed utmost class in defeat!

Liberty linebacker Hudson Dorsey kept his head held high during the postgame handshake line. He encouraged the rival players to go win a high school football state championship.

These two rival programs meet every year during the regular season. The Pioneers defeated the reigning state champion Patriots by a final score of 26-14 back in October.

They met again during the postseason on Friday.

Orange, the No. 1 seed in Region 3 of the Ohio high school football playoffs, beat Liberty by four points in the semifinal to stay undefeated at 12-0. Treyton Schroeder secured the most important interception of his career to secure the win late in the fourth quarter.

The Pioneers will play in the Regional Final for the first time in school history next weekend.

Ohio high school football playoffs ends with mutual respect.

Patriots senior linebacker Hudson Dorsey’s high school football career came to a end with the loss. It was a crushing defeat. Nobody would’ve blamed him if he showed his disappointment or took a moment to gather his emotions. But that is not what happened.

Dorsey was the first player in line to shake the hands of the victors. And he told the Orange players to “go get a ring” as he made his way down the line.

In a world where negativity gets so much attention, this is the kind of thing that deserves the utmost praise. Hudson Dorsey held his head high after the final game of his career and encouraged Liberty’s rivals to go do what he couldn’t. (Even though he got a ring last year!)
