The college football recruiting landscape has truly changed.

It seems the upper echelon of the Big 10 just can’t keep up these days.

Everything should be going great for the Ohio State football program right now. They made it through the regular season with just one loss and snuck their way into the College Football Playoff while they were watching conference championship games from their couch.

However, it looks like they have run into an issue on the recruiting trail. Their boosters just can’t afford some of the top recruits they are interested in.

At least, it seems that was the case with one 5-star recruit they’ve gone after. Buckeye reporter Dave Biddle revealed today on 97.1 The Fan that Ohio State had missed out on a 5-star recruit because they couldn’t pay him enough.

According to Biddle, the Buckeyes didn’t even offer half of what the player was looking for.

Biddle also revealed that Georgia offered this player $1.8 million to sign and $800K per season. Ohio State couldn’t get him an offer better than $500K.

It’s surprising to hear that such a huge college football program is having this kind of issue, especially in the midst of a run where they’re about to make their 3rd Playoff appearance in the last 4 years.

Some might not like that this is happening in college football, but it’s good to see players getting as much money as they can for their services even when it’s the country’s biggest programs making the offers.
