Oklahoma Basketball Game Goes Up In Flames Like Porter Moser When Popcorn Machine Starts Raging Fire

Oklahoma Basketball Fire Porter Moser Fired

The college basketball game between Oklahoma and Georgia encountered a brief delay during the second half due to a fire in the concourse. A popcorn machine went up flames.

It is the perfect representation of Porter Moser’s fifth season at the helm.

Fortunately, nobody was hurt and the college basketball game was able to continue as scheduled. Unfortunately, the popcorn was burnt.

Porter Moser out?

There is a lot of chatter in Norman about the current state of the men’s basketball program. The Sooners have only made the NCAA Tournament one time in the last four seasons and lost in the first round.

Moser has not won more than 20 games in any of his five seasons as head coach (including this year) and has never finished above .500 in the SEC. Fans are tired of the same result. It is stagnant.

If he was to be fired without cause after the 2025-26 season, the University of Oklahoma would owe Porter Moser a buyout of roughly $5.2 million. That includes offset clauses if he finds employment elsewhere.

All things considered, that number is not too bad. He could lose his job in just a few weeks. We’ll see.

In the meantime, the Sooners currently sit at 12-12 and just 2-9 in conference play. They are not going to make March Madness without an impressive run to victory at the SEC Tournament. It’s a dumpster fire.

Rather, it’s a popcorn fire.

A popcorn machine caught fire at the Oklahoma basketball game.

Oklahoma welcomed the Georgia Bulldogs to town on Saturday. The visitors held a four-point lead over the home team when the game suddenly came to a halt because of a fire in the concourse.

Fans scattered like ants.

Smoke very quickly filled the concourse.

It even made its way into the arena.

Upon closer look, it was a popcorn machine that caught fire.

And we’re not just talking about a little spark. We’re talking full-blown flames.

Here is how it looked on the SEC Network broadcast:

The flames were quickly extinguished. Officials took a brief moment for the smoke to clear and for fans to return to their seats. Game back on!

This bizarre sequence of events is rather poetic. The program is quite literally up in flames.
