Hate in the Red River Rivalry runs deep, no matter the conference affiliation. That was on full display as Oklahoma and Texas celebrated their moves into the SEC.

Each school threw a party of sorts to commemorate the moment and excite fans for what’s to come. After nearly three decades together in the Big 12, a new era is on its way.

An all-out party unfolded in Austin where the ‘Horns played host to former players, coaches, and the SEC Network. Pitbull even made an appearance as he played a concert for attendees.

The scenes were incredible, providing an awesome introduction into the league for the Longhorns. That party lasted until about 10 PM (officially), and it was capped by one final parting shot at the Big 12.

Things were a bit tamer in Norman, at least in terms of media exposure. That didn’t mean Oklahomans were any less rowdy!

The Sooners hosted a public celebration at Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium where it flexed that new SEC affiliation, highlighted by a complete football stadium facelift.

The OU campus was also littered with new Southeastern Conference signage, though not all of it made it safely through the day!

An Oklahoma fan trashed a Texas flag that was placed on the university grounds.

The thing about joining forces with a hated rival in a new undertaking is that you’ll be paired together as a package deal. That was obviously the case in this SEC move.

One OU fan, however, couldn’t put differences aside – even as the duo embarks side-by-side into unchartered territory.

The logos of all 16 SEC members were placed on the Oklahoma campus Monday to signify the transition. Only 15 were still standing by day’s end!

Previously place in between an Oklahoma and Texas A&M flag was a Longhorns logo. You can see it laying on its side after a Sooner fan removed it from upright position.

They just couldn’t stand to see burnt orange flying in Norman!

This is nothing new for those close to the situation. The hostility never takes a day off! The SEC will soon get its introduction to the hate that is the Red River Rivalry.
