A group of Oklahoma players jumped over the protective rope that blocked the Alabama logo at midfield at Bryant-Denny Stadium after the college football game on Saturday. A Crimson Tide staffer tried to stop them.
Her request led to a brief confrontation with the Sooners.
Every single win should be celebrated in college football, especially within the SEC. But there is a way to do so respectfully, which is why things got tense in Tuscaloosa!
Oklahoma beat Alabama on defense.
These two SEC programs are both in the mix for the College Football Playoff but they must both win out A win on Saturday went a long way for Oklahoma, which will close out the year with LSU and Missouri. Alabama’s fluke loss to Florida State in the season-opener looks worse and worse by the day but a postseason bid is all-but a sure thing with wins over Eastern Illinois (LOL) and Auburn.
The Crimson Tide seemed to have control of the entire game but the Sooners’ defense stepped up when it mattered most and John Mateer did just enough to will his team to victory.
Oklahoma now leads the all-time series with Alabama 5-1, including back-to-back wins in 2024 and 2025. This was its first win in Tuscaloosa since 2003.
The Sooners got into it with a Crimson Tide staffer.
A group of Alabama staffers sprung into action just moments after the clock hit zero to block off the script A logo at the 50-yard-line. Nobody is allowed on the logo.
However, the Sooners did not care. They gathered at midfield and hopped over the protective ropes to take some photos for social media as if they had conquered Bryant-Denny Stadium, which they did.
Tara Fuhrman, who serves as an executive assistant to an executive deputy athletics director, requested that they promptly return to the other side of the ropes and to “be respectful.” She stood guard next to the logo as the players yelled back at her.
“We won that B—-,” said wide receiver Jer’Michael Carter.
It was pretty tense! Most of the Oklahoma players exited the roped-off circle right away. Some stood their ground for a brief moment before adhering to the request.
They all stood just outside of the ropes to take their photos but the chirping back and forth with Fuhrman continued.

The Sooners eventually made their way back to the locker room to sing and dance to ‘Dixieland Delight’ and ‘Sweet Home Alabama.’ It was a well-deserved celebration that Fuhrman made sure to keep respectful.
