Bixby defeated Enid 92-0 during a high school football game in the state of Oklahoma. The blowout loss looked even worse in real life than it does on paper.
There is a case to be made that these two teams should not be required to compete in the same division.
Player safety became a legitimate concern as the top-ranked high school football program in the United States put a beat down on one of the worst teams in the country. At what point is enough enough?
Bixby destroyed Enid.
Bixby started the game with a pick-six on the first play from scrimmage. The very first play of the game went 30 yards in the other direction to put Enid in a 0-7 hole. It was one of three interceptions returned for touchdowns. Special teams also found the end zone on a 45-yard punt return.
The Spartans only played their starters during the first quarter. The Plainsman trailed by more than 70 points at halftime.
Both teams agreed to use a running clock during the final 34 minutes of the game. It still got even further out of hand.

The box score is as lopsided as it gets.

Does Oklahoma need to restructure its high school football?
These two programs are obviously on very different levels in terms of performance. And yet, they are on the same level in terms of competition.
Both schools enroll approximately 2,200/2,300 students. They both compete in Class 6A-I of the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association.
The Spartans claim 10 state championships in almost every year since 2014. Seven on the Class 6A-II level. Three on the Class 6A-I level.

The Plainsmen had just one winning season since 2011. One.
Bixby moved to 7-0 with the 92-0 blowout win. Enid dropped to 0-7. You can watch the highlights here.
How is this fair? It’s not.
The Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association should consider a relegation system to prevent these kinds of results. Teams should be moved up or down based on how they perform during two-year cycles.
It’s long overdue.
Otherwise, Bixby will continue to roll over teams like Enid. The Plainsmen don’t stand a chance.
